SATS Background
In 2001, NASA, partnering with the Federal Aviation Administration and the Nationwide Consortium for Aviation Mobility (NCAM), arrange the Advanced General Aviation Transport Experiment (AGATE) program. AGATE’s objective was to assist in the research and growth of technology needed to support the SATS idea, particularly enabling protected and affordable access to virtually any runway within the United States.
